Lance Chapman • Motion Picture Editor

Lance Chapman’s virgin voyage as a feature film editor contributed to the independent film The Yankles receiving 10 nominations and 8 wins at film festivals and garnering distribution through Magnolia Pictures.

His latest feature work, The Narrows, marks his decades-long friendship with director Steven Feder. The two met while working on Steven’s film It Had To Be You, where Lance was the first assistant editor. Since then, the two have worked on several projects in development, as well as co-hosted 100+ hours of talk radio programming through ResidentBand.la, an organization Lance founded, which is dedicated to promoting independent musicians.

In addition to his focus editing features, Lance has directed numerous music videos and short films. In his early career, he worked as an assistant editor for documentaries, television, and features for companies including Miramax, Fox Searchlight, and Hollywood Pictures. He was a partner and VP of Post-production for Birthmark Entertainment Inc., where he split his time between managing other editors and editing projects for clients including Sony Music, Fox Home Entertainment, FIJI Water, and eHarmony.

Although born in Northern California’s Bay Area and raised deep in the redwood forest of the Santa Cruz mountains, you may now find Lance hiking Los Angeles’ Griffith Park near his home, listening to live bands in small venues, grabbing ingredients at a local farmer’s market for his next kitchen creation, studying films at iconic Los Angeles theaters, but most likely in his studio working on his next project.
